In spite of the fact that this car was designed for very different scopes, after adequate preparation, the French technicians managed to obtain notable power from the engine: 150CV, and a noteworthy drive ration, which thanks to the contained weight of only 800 Kg. made the R5 a very maneuverable and fast car.The R5 obtained great results in the Sanremo and Montecarlo Rallies in 1978 and successively gratifying results in the Acropolis Rally and in Africa.The Renault 5 Turbo or R5 Turbo is a high-performance hatchback auto mobile launched by the French manufacturer Renault at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1980. The car was primarily designed for rallying, but was also sold in a street version. A total of 4987 ( turbo 1: 1820 turbo 2: 3167 ) R5 Turbos were manufactured during a six-year production run.In response to Lancia’s rallying success with the mid-engined Stratos, Renault’s Jean Terramorsi, vice-president of production, asked Bertones Marc Deschamps to design a new sports version of the Renault 5 Alpine super-mini. The distinctive new rear bodywork was styled by Marcello Gandini at Bertone.Although the standard Renault 5 has a front-mounted engine, the 5 Turbo featured a mid-mounted 1397 cc Clon-Fonte turbocharged engine placed behind the driver in mid-body in a modified Renault 5 chassis. In standard form, the engine developed 160 metric horsepower (118 kilowatts; 158 horsepower) and 163 lbft (221 Nm) torque.Though it used a modified body from a standard Renault 5, and was badged a Renault 5, the mechanicals were radically different, the most obvious difference being rear-wheel drive and rear-mid-engined instead of the normal version’s front-wheel drive and front-mounted engine. At the time of its launch it was the most powerful production French car. The first 400 production 5 Turbos were made to comply with Group 4 homologation to allow the car to compete in international rallies, and were manufactured at the Alpine factory in Dieppe.Once the homologation models were produced, a second version named Turbo 2 was introduced using more stock Renault 5 parts replacing many of light alloy components in the original 5 Turbo version.[1] The Turbo 2 was less expensive, but had nearly the same levels of performance, top speed of 200 km/h (120 mph) and 0100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. To differentiate it from the Turbo 2, the original 5 Turbo is often referred as “Turbo 1”.The concept of a mid-engined small Renault returned with the 1998 announcement of the Renault Clio V6.

To compete in the FIA-Group 5 car competitions, Porsche developed a special car line characterized by dedicated engine and chassis solutions, beginning with the production of the famous 911 Turbo. Several versions of this model were made, but one of the most famous was the Porsche 935J. The “Baby” as it was known, was built to compete in the 2.0-liter German national championship (Deutsche Rennwagen Meisterschaft). It adopted a lighter chassis for this competition thanks to the use of a tubular aluminum space frame. This solution enabled the vehicle to have an overall weight of 735 kg which was in line with competition weight requirements. The car used a 1.425 air-cooled engine with a power performance of 261Kw. The Porsche 935J achieved an important victory in the 1977 German Grand Prix held in Hockenheim, that proved its excellent engine performance and design features.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0554/0986/8979/files/0lRsBt8nB7jmDWDbPxROfUBIXQGV1WoXdzpKQ3zB.jpg?v=1762343847
italeri-3661-range-rover-police-car-1-24
Italeri 3661 Range Rover Police Car 1:24

The Range Rover Classic can be considered a milestone in the history of off-road vehicles.
